Enacted in 1980, the Act requires federal agencies to justify information collection requests, aiming to reduce unnecessary forms, surveys, and reports.

Under the PRA, agencies must obtain approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) before imposing paperwork requirements, ensuring transparency and accountability. Supporters argue that this saves time and resources while protecting citizens from excessive bureaucratic demands.

"In an age where time is valuable, the Paperwork Reduction Act plays a crucial role in streamlining government processes," says policy expert Laura Mitchell. Agencies are now using digital platforms to comply with the Act while making interactions with the public more efficient.
